| Since obtaining my degree in photography in 1986, I have pursued the many avenues of professional photography. My heart is in the arts I’ve always admired the many masters of photography like Robert Frank, Alfred Steiglitz, Larry Clark, Elliot Erwitt and Cartier Bresson. All of these artists share in the gift of capturing what Bresson coined "the decisive moment". I began documenting marriages as a personal project, not as a job. Through our commissions I've continued that project turning it into my life’s work, adding to a series that originated out of my boredom from shooting weddings in a more traditional style when I needed to make some extra money. |

Studio offerings include hand printed portfolios made on silver rich fiber based B&W papers which are processed by us. This was part of the integrity I insisted we maintain if I was to create this studio with my name on it. The photographs we offer not only conform to archival museum standards (not a normal practice), they are exhibition quality artists made images that look unlike any other wedding photographs you have ever seen, I guarantee it. We are one of a handful of studios in the country who offer this at all. Our clients appreciate that they can get unique coverage of their wedding and an end product of museum quality that will look as good as it does today 150 years from now, in display conditions. It’s just one more reason why, the more you know the more likely you will commission bates photographic studio for your wedding. |
